January 25th saw the opening at Taipei Fine Arts Museum of a retrospective by titan Chinese artist and head of Beijing‘s Central Academy of Fine Arts, Xu Bing. Curated by Taiwanese curator and critic Chia Chi Jason Wang, the show contains 22 works, including new and site-specific installations. Although Xu’s work has been extensively exhibited all over the world (in 2013 alone, it appeared in London and Oxford, UK, and at the Metropolitan Museum and Mass MoCA, USA), this is touted as “his first large-scale international retrospective solo exhibition” by Taipei Fine Arts Museum.
